Scent

This Christmas was a blast. This was my first Christmas with my new wife Emma. There was a few very simple things this Christmas that made it all the better. We busted out the old record player and cranked up some good ol Nat King Cole, Mormon Tab, and some new favorites (James Taylor, John Mayer). There is one thing I was very set on, and that was buying a fresh green smelly Christmas tree. One of my favorite things to do is vacuum up the needles. This was my task every year, and so naturally that scent brings back fond memories. That smell of fresh pine was my favorite.

I started thinking about what other scents that brought back found memory's. I remember when I used to mow my parents lawn, we had a big patch of mint leaves that grew on the side of our house. I used to love just mowing over the leaves and get a huge wiff of fresh mint.

I have always been keen to different smells. These are just two of the simple scents that I have always loved and are associated with happy times in my life.

Calvin and Hobbs

What can I say. I was born and raised on Calvin and Hobbs. I'm pretty sure my whole sense of humor comes from these books. My parents would hear me from across the house laughing and they automatically knew I was reading Calvin and Hobbs. Funny part was the vocabulary was way over my head. For a few years I thought the word "character" was pronounced like "charter", so finally one day I realized its CHARACTER, he is building CHARACTER! The humor and sarcasm of Calvin and his imaginary friend Hobbs still to this day cracks me up. So I still consider this one of the small and simple pleasure of my life, sitting down, tuning out of the world and just laughing till I cry. I guess I can see my self a lot in Calvin.

Sunday morning confrence

I always look forward to the semi-annual Sunday morning lds general conference session for a few specific reasons. One, I really love starting my morning off listening to the voice of our prophet and his counselors. The second part is the huge breakfast my parents put together, with scrambled eggs, hot buttery waffles, crispy bacon, orange Julius, and fresh fresh salsa. This has been something we have done for a long time, and even on my mission I couldn't help but think about it every conference morning. Between both of these things it make the most relaxing and edifying morning ever.
